What Kaya Means

Kaya means home.

Not just a physical place, but a feeling of safety, grounding, and belonging within yourself.

At Kaya Mind, therapy is about creating that sense of “home” again, especially in those moments when life feels overwhelming, exhausting, or difficult to navigate.

This is a space where you don’t need to have all the answers, hold everything together, or pretend you’re coping.

It is a space where you can pause, breathe, and begin to reconnect with yourself.

Who I am

My name is Tanika and I am a BACP-registered counsellor and mental health coach.

I specialise in supporting individuals experiencing burnout, anxiety, and life pressures. I also bring a strong background in work-related mental health, helping people navigate stress, rebuild confidence, and find balance during challenging periods.

I understand how easy it is to become overwhelmed when you are constantly managing responsibilities, expectations, and change, often without enough space to pause and reflect.

My aim is to offer a calm, supportive environment where you feel genuinely heard, understood, and supported.

COUNCELLING

My approach

At the core of my work is a person-centred approach, meaning you are always at the centre of the process. I believe you are the expert of your own life, and my role is to support you in exploring your thoughts and experiences safely and at your own pace.

Alongside this, I integrate CBT-informed techniques, helping you to:

  • Recognise patterns in your thoughts and behaviours
  • Manage anxiety and overwhelming emotions
  • Develop practical tools to feel more in control in everyday situations

I also draw on existential therapy, supporting you to reflect on deeper questions around:

  • Identity and sense of self
  • Meaning, purpose, and direction in life
  • Navigating change, uncertainty, and life transitions

This allows our work together to be both practical (helping you manage day-to-day challenges), and reflective (helping you understand yourself on a deeper level). We will move at a pace that feels right for you, creating a space where you can feel safe, supported, and gradually reconnect with yourself.

You do not have to carry everything on your own.
Let's talk.

Taking the first step can feel difficult, but it is also the beginning of change. This is your space to slow down, be heard, and reconnect with yourself.
